LinOS
A large whiteboard was the operating system for a warehouse environment. LinOS was a project to digitize and streamline this management process.
Status at a glance:
Design ask: “As a supervisor, I want to be able to see a list of team members active in the system so I can assign them work tasks.”
View Associated Tasks:
Design ask: “When the clock hits 20 minutes remaining the supervisor should receive a notification that the trailer has 20 minutes remaining before a detention charge is incurred.”
While the project was a success from a fulfilling requirements standpoint, it had a great unintended benefit: cold food handling fines reduced by 25% for test facilities. This is because the testing facility could see everything happening at a glance, allowing the warehouse manager to move loading dock employees as needed from the system rather then having to call individual employees on their beeper devices.
